Choosing the appropriate model is a hot topic at any time because it can be problem specific.

The best answer I can say that try different models and compare their performance (for example precision, recall, or F1 score).

For choosing the parameters try different parameters and see which one can give you the best performance on your validation set.

At last, to validate your best parameter, try interpretation methods such as LIME, SHAP, etc on your model and see how reasonably your model is working.
